The goal of the iOS Development Bootcamp is to transform you into a professional developer. You’ll come to understand coding logic, and learn how to think like a dev by building iPhone, iPad and Apple TV apps from the ground up. Our program will provide you with mentorship, data-driven curriculum and a top notch learning environment that will launch you into your first developer role. Your intense work starts a few weeks before coming in with our Prep Modules, hits full speed on day one and won’t stop until you graduate.

Topics Covered

  • Objective-C & Swift: You'll begin the course by learning how to build apps using Objective-C before moving on to Swift in week five. Your final project can either be written in Objective-C, Swift, or a combination of both.
  • Parse & BaaS Alternatives, CoreData & Realm: Persisting data is important if we ever need to use it again. CoreData and Realm are ways to persist data on your phone. Parse is a way to communicate and persist data using a server, akin to building your own API. We will also talk about other Backend-as-a-Service alternatives to Parse.
  • Cocoa Frameworks: We will go over specific frameworks that are unique to being a mobile developer. This includes frameworks that allow us to access to the camera, the iPhone’s current location, and give us the ability to push notify users of our app.
  • Animation: Once you know how to build apps, we want our apps to stand out. We go over how to animate view, how to group and chain these animations and how to use different physics characteristics.
  • Working with APIs: We will be working with APIs to understand how to communicate with servers and deal with JSON natively in our iOS apps. This will empower you to work with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other API of your choosing.
  • Storyboards, Size Classes & Auto Layout: Storyboards allow us to lay out each screen in our iOS app. We’ll learn how to interact with them and how to use Auto Layout. This allows us add rules to our views so that they function for all screen sizes.
  •  iOS App Store: By the end of the course you will have a midterm project app and a final project app which you can showcase to potential employers and submit to Apple’s App Store.
