Web Development Foundations (WDF) is a micro credential aimed at those, with no related experience, who want to learn to build web pages and websites by hand.

Students with no web coding background will be introduced to web scripting languages and tools by industry experts. Starting with the HyperText Markup Language (HTML), students learn to create documents for web browsers. They then practice building Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript are used along with best practices to develop and manage websites, to industry standards maintained by the Word Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Beginning with COMP 1850 -Introduction to Web Development”, students move on to COMP 2132 -Web Development with JavaScript. Successful students who complete both courses will have the option to continue to higher-level courses in web development.

Web Development Foundations (WDF) will provide basic skills for web scripting to create web pages and websites.

I graduated from the CST (Computer Systems Technology) program in 2017. I didn't see that on the list here so I picked a related program. The experience was very good and oriented to getting that first job. My salary went from $58,000 to $170,000 in less than 5 years working in software engineering. The pandemic gave us engineers a boost, but I had the skills and had "learned how to learn," and so my career has shown that. BCIT gave me a great start in this industry.
