Toronto Film School understands that aspiring filmmakers are looking for educational opportunities that are both comprehensive and flexible. Their Video Production diploma program is an extensive 24-month online program that provides instruction from experienced filmmakers, with the opportunity to learn at your own pace.

Here’s what you can expect from one of the world’s top film schools: A program that will teach you how to plan, shoot, direct, edit, and market your own content. At the same time, you will also build up a portfolio of work for prospective employers. You will graduate with the knowledge you need to fill any number of creative roles, including: Producer, Filmmaker, Director, Sound Editor, Video Editor, Production Coordinator, Post-Production Supervisor and Videographer.

Bachelor of Creative Arts degree pathway

A creative diploma from Toronto Film School qualifies you for entry into Yorkville University’s Bachelor of Creative Arts (BCA) degree program, which can be completed in as few as 15 months. The BCA is designed to round out your education by teaching you the practical business and leadership skills you need for a successful career in the creative arts. With this degree, you will then be eligible to apply to Canada’s Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP), where you can obtain a work permit valid for up to 3 years.

Having recently graduated from TFS’ acting program I’ve had the opportunity to quickly diverse myself into the entertainment industry. Although my education was accomplished during the pandemic, I’m very thankful for the experiences I’ve had and people I met both online and in person. TFS has a wonderful faculty all of which are actual working professionals, which has been a highlight of my education. They’ve taught me various ways to kickstart my career and I’m thankful to have been exposed to so many different approaches. If you’re looking for a fast paced, hands-on experience that will give you a taste for everything off and on screen, I’d recommend this program to anyone ready to pursue their passion. It goes without saying that if you’re willing to look and work for it a hand full of opportunities will be presented to you. I’ve had the pleasure to recently stage manage TFS first live performance since this pandemic, which showcased Term 5 acting students at the Papermill theatre, “The Thirty-Nine Steps” Directed by Jack Grinhaus.

I had the chance to attend TFS from 2018 to 2019, in Film Production. I've enjoyed the entirety of the syllabus, complete and multidimensional. I was able to not only sharpen my creative intuitions, but also to have a more exact sense as to how to deploy them more effectively in the context of a large-scale production. There, I was given the opportunity to flourish not only as a cinephile, but also as a someone with the necessary toolkit to be an effective part of the industry.

I'm now working as a producer for a production company, three years (and a pandemic) after my graduation, and I still have deep connections with some of my professors, most notably Michaelangelo Masangkay, who I still call to this day for questions, references and advices.
