The Certificate in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Systems (COHSES) is part of the pathway to becoming an established OHS professional. Developed for learners from mid-level managers to front-line workers in every industry and sector, it aims to provide students with the skills to communicate their plans effectively to all levels of employees.
All courses in the COHSES program focus on a process-based approach to Occupational Health and Safety. The curriculum is not limited to a jurisdiction’s legislative framework; rather, it is a far-reaching collection of best practices as identified by OHS professionals from a wide range of jurisdictions and legislative backgrounds.
The course content is mapped to various frameworks, blueprints, and body of knowledge documents, using the International Network of Safety & Health Professional Organizations Global Framework as the foundation piece. The curriculum aligns with many external designation bodies, such as the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, and includes materials based on blueprints from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and the Australian Institute of Safety and Health (AISH).
COHSES is made up of 13 courses, with a total of 6 terms, 8 weeks in length. The program can be completed in as little as 11 months or up to 20 months in part time studies.

As a Husband and father of 2 young children who works fulltime, upgrading my schooling was an extremely daunting and seemingly unrealistic goal. There was no was I could take time off work, go to a different location for school, go on EI etc etc and still maintain my relationship and be the Dad I want to be.
Then I discovered UFred.
The online and Part Time aspect of the OHS and Environmental Systems course I am take has made it extremely accessible and attainable to further my education and take a step up careerwise. Yes there are still some late nights finishing reports and studying after everyone is in bed, but I am still able to be home and present for my family.
If you are hesitant about going back to school because of the constraints and feeling that it will set you back years financially, this is the place for you. I am halfway through the course now and the course load is extremely manageable.

UFred is reasonably priced compared to other MBA’s, recognized by the Government, offers me all the flexibility I need, and gives me the expected tools. I would recommend it blindly
