Psychology is the study of how people think, feel, and behave. Psychologists seek to understand how we learn and grow, how we develop unique personalities and identities, and how we respond to the world around us.

The University of Alberta’s BA in Psychology program covers a broad range of topics, from infant, childhood, and adolescent development, to aging and memory, to language, speech, and culture — plus much more.

The Faculty of Arts boasts one of the most diverse Arts programs in Canada, offering top quality educational opportunities that prepare students for successful careers in every sector of society. With over nine hundred distinct courses in the humanities, social sciences, and fine arts, students will find an academic pathway that suits. Studies will be enhanced by the rich insights that U of A’s nationally and internationally recognized faculty members bring to the classroom through unique insights drawn from their research and advancement of human knowledge. Academic excellence, innovative problem-solving, and experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom, such as Community Service-Learning and Arts Work Experience programs, will give students the tools to thrive in a diverse and increasingly complex workplace.

I did both my BA and MSc at UofA and my experience has been great. Buildings are beautiful. Really nice in the spring and summer when it all becomes green. In my undergraduate studies, I had to live with large class sizes and low professor-student interaction. However, this is common to all big universities and if you really want to learn and excel, you can have a way with professors whatever the situation. The class sizes decrease as you specialize in a field and as you go into senior years. Graduate studies are really nice and there are programs out there that focus on professional development on top of your program that you can take advantage of. The university is research intensive and challenges students to be creative and not dependent on supervisors.
