QC’s Aging in Place certification course is designed for interior design professionals who want to expand their expertise in creating safe, functional, and stylish living environments for aging clients. Through a comprehensive online curriculum, students learn how to apply accessible and universal design principles while developing personalized solutions that support comfort, independence, and long-term livability. The program builds on existing design knowledge and helps students strengthen their ability to create spaces that meet both practical needs and aesthetic goals.
Throughout the course, students explore how aging affects mobility, health, and lifestyle, and learn how to adapt design strategies to accommodate a wide range of client needs, budgets, and preferences. They also gain valuable experience in integrating services such as decluttering and home transitions into their design practice, while receiving feedback from industry professionals and access to a supportive learning community. Business training and portfolio development are included to help students build and promote their services effectively. Upon completion, graduates earn the Aging in Place Professional (APDP) designation, demonstrating their ability to design thoughtful, accessible, and client-centered homes.
Students can become certified aging in place designers in as little as two to six months through QC Design School’s flexible, self-paced course. With up to one year to complete their training and earn the APDP certification, graduates are able to begin working with aging in place design clients immediately upon completion.
