The Business – Insurance program at Seneca Polytechnic is a two-year Ontario College Diploma designed to prepare students for careers in Canada’s property and casualty (general) insurance industry. Developed in collaboration with the Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC) and industry experts, the program focuses on brokerage, underwriting, and claims.
Delivered in a hybrid format at the Newnham campus, the program consists of four semesters, with some courses offered in a flexible delivery format that allows students to choose between in-person and online attendance.
Graduates can pursue careers in various roles, including insurance adviser, broker, client adviser, insurance coordinator, asset manager, claims coordinator, and underwriter. Additionally, they have the opportunity to earn eight credits toward the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
Admission Requirements
- Completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or qualification as a mature applicant.
- A Grade 12 English course at the college or university level, or an equivalent.
- A Grade 12 college or university-level mathematics course, or Grade 11 university or mixed level, or an equivalent course.
