This foundational course teaches the student an understanding of the opportunity, limitations, development, writing, production, and distribution process for an Audio Podcast.
This course – workshop will introduce students to Audacity, an open-source, cross-platform audio editing software, as well as audio recording devices. Audacity can be used to record, import, trim, refine, and otherwise manipulate multiple audio tracks to compose interviews, stories, music, or remixes for podcasts and other projects.
This course will focus on using Audacity and recording devices to create and compose material in the podcast format, and demonstrate some features of Audacity for creating audio remixes. Through demonstration, discussion, and practice, students will learn the technical processes of capturing and editing audio for their production purposes, and reflect on narrative elements and styles in order to create and distribute a successful Podcast production.

- Identify the basic crewing requirements for an audio podcast production.
- Define the phases of production involved with any podcast production.
- Determine the costs and production requirements for a client’s audio podcast.
- Provide assistance with production research, scripting and distribution for a client’s podcast.
