This foundational course teaches the student an understanding of the opportunity, limitations, development, writing, production, and distribution process for an Audio Podcast.

This course – workshop will introduce students to Audacity, an open-source, cross-platform audio editing software, as well as audio recording devices. Audacity can be used to record, import, trim, refine, and otherwise manipulate multiple audio tracks to compose interviews, stories, music, or remixes for podcasts and other projects.

This course will focus on using Audacity and recording devices to create and compose material in the podcast format, and demonstrate some features of Audacity for creating audio remixes. Through demonstration, discussion, and practice, students will learn the technical processes of capturing and editing audio for their production purposes, and reflect on narrative elements and styles in order to create and distribute a successful Podcast production.

What You’ll Learn

  • Identify the basic crewing requirements for an audio podcast production.
  • Define the phases of production involved with any podcast production.
  • Determine the costs and production requirements for a client’s audio podcast.
  • Provide assistance with production research, scripting and distribution for a client’s podcast.

I attended Trebas in 2015/16. With one foot into the Entertainment Industry prior to attending, I found the plethora of courses was exactly what I needed to determine which sectors best suited my knowledge, network and skill set.
To date, I have curated for TIFF, gained valuable experience in concert production, private/public funding, artist management, consulting and social media and online marketing.
Trebas has continued to be a support over the years. From opportunities speaking at conferences to providing student volunteers looking to acquire hours of experience for events I have managed, I am proud to say I am Trebas Institute Alum.

For a couple of years, I would keep inquiring about the Entertainment Management program but never committed. In 2019 when I went to inquire again, Bill said to me “I’m not even going to try to sell you on why our school is a great choice, based on the history here I see you’ve been interested! This is obviously a passion you're interested in; the question is.... when do you want to get started?”
With the push I needed, my goals were clear get the knowledge and the qualifications needed to pursue my dream! After enrolling I found out I was pregnant, so I immediately wanted to quit and took this as a set back! Bill gave me all the options on how to cancel, but again I was met with words of compassion and reassurance that Trebas has a team of supportive professors and I could accomplish this!
I left Trebas as a graduate, with connections to the industry through my professors, a business owner, with new friendships built and a mom to a beautiful baby boy!
Thank you to all the wonderful teachers that were direct, which prepared me for this industry. The teachers that I most appreciate are the individuals that go the extra mile for their students to succeed.....feel lucky if you get to have Dora, Lindsay, Buck, Rick, Trevor and Kal! Most importantly Laura is the icing on the cake (no she is not a current professor at Trebas, but she remembers everyone’s name and is simply awesome).

  • What are the deadlines for the submission of registration

    Our deadlines are flexible and we can accept new students up until the first day of classes. Once all admissions information has been submitted and reviewed, applicants can expect confirmation of acceptance within the week.

  • What are the admissions procedures for international students?

    International students must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria before submitting an application to Trebas Institute. They should begin their application efforts as early as possible to receive their letter of acceptance in time and be able to obtain the documents required by the Canadian government.

  • Is it possible to meet with a counsellor at Trebas Institute?

    Yes - it is strongly recommended you meet with one of our admissions advisors to learn more about our programs.

  • Can you guarantee me a job after I graduate?
