Students enrolled in the Video Game Design and Entrepreneurship program get the skills to build their dream video game and start a gaming company.
Through a project-based approach, learners become confident game developers. Students will be well versed in the use of Unity, Unreal Engine, audio, art, user interfaces, narrative and game mechanics. Start with the fundamentals of game design through creating a tabletop game, then work on 3D action RPGS and asynchronous multiplayer games. Students will learn to transform their concept art into 3D worlds.
Learners will gain a deep understanding of the video game industry itself. Analyze markets, understand the corporate structure of gaming departments, develop marketing campaigns and learn about hiring processes. By the end of the program, students will understand how to take a game all the way from concept to retail.
What You’ll Learn
- Produce or assist in developing and producing design concepts.
- Create 2D and 3D assets, including character models and level art.
- Implement game loops, puzzles, RPG systems, game economies, branching 2w and more.
- Assemble a portfolio and learn about industry hiring practices.
- Manage teams of game developers and market a game.
- Work in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Create music and sound effects for games.
