Prepare for your Canadian university education by building a solid foundation of English proficiency, from beginner to advanced, and satisfy the language requirement for most programs at York University.

The Academic Program builds a solid foundation of English proficiency. This program will allow you to improve your academic English skills to the level you need to pursue your educational goals. You will participate in fun online activities and join a welcoming student community.

You can participate in interactive online clubs, activities and social events organized by York University Community Leaders. These will give you the opportunity to practice your English Language skills outside the virtual classroom in a fun, dynamic, online environment. Online Conversation Partner sessions hosted multiple times per week by York University Community Leaders will also allow you to practice your language and social skills in a casual and supportive online setting with a group of your peers.

When you reach Levels AP6 to AP9, you’ll also be able to sit in on York University classes and experience what a university education is like first-hand. After you complete Level 9 of the Academic Program you will meet the language requirements for entry to York University and can apply for conditional admission.

I enrolled in the Human Resources Management course from York University with course instructor Amina Malik. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the textbook and completing the interactive assignments via the discussion board. Amina was actively involved by posting comments and providing advice on the boards.

The textbook "Managing Human Resources" authored by Belcourt, M., Bohlander, G., & Snell, S. is very well written and organized. It contains a lot of relevant and up-to-date information, as well as many case studies, an ethics in HRM feature, and other ways to help students learn and apply the material.

I have to be honest in saying that I didn't really enjoy the multimedia presentations as much as the book, but that may be just a personal learning style. The ones that I covered were detailed and well presented.

I would recommend this course to anyone wishing to gain more training and knowledge about Human Resources. It is part of the CPHR program offered here:

I enjoyed the experience at York University. The Director of my program (Advanced Certificate in Accounting) was very knowledgeable and guided me when I had questions regarding my school curriculum.
