The instructors are fantastic (with few exceptions) but the school as an organization just fails to deliver on it's promises. Extremely poor scheduling, broken and poorly maintained equipment, and a massive lack of communication between faculty and students. Multiple times during my program, my class had to track down staff to get ahold of them to address issues that we had emailed about days prior. Even some professors seem to not be included in the loop with the goings on at the school, leaving us confused and frustrated. If these issues with the school itself could be resolved, it could be a great alternative to some of the larger film schools in BC, but right now I could not recommend it.

While I was interested in film, I never had any formal technical training and really despised the idea of having to enrol in another 2 to 4 year film school program upon graduating (not to mention covering the tuition!). InFocus’s program was a great hands on way to learn the ins and outs of basic filmmaking and how to construct a short film. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who has an interest in filmmaking and wants to learn the basic skills to launch a career. You will find future opportunities based on your portfolio of work and through your networks, both of which will get a nice boost through the school.
