Firefighter – Pre-Service Education and Training

This program equips students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to become firefighters. Built on National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, the curriculum is recognized across North America. Delivered in a professional model, the program requires students to uphold the high standards expected of modern firefighters. Self-study is essential, and participation beyond class hours is encouraged.

The program starts with intensive classroom learning before advancing to practical training. Students will apply skills in simulated and live fire scenarios on campus and at local fire training facilities. Support for the hiring process is also provided. Graduates of the Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training program will be eligible to take the Ontario Fire Marshal and Emergency Management provincial firefighter certification tests.

Admission Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
• Grade 12 English, college or university.
• Grade 11 Math, college or university.
• One of the following: Grade 11 or 12 biology, chemistry, physics, or exercise science.
