The Executive MBA (EMBA) program is an intensive, 22-month program. Classes are delivered face-to-face at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. It is designed for senior-level managers who wish to enhance their organization’s value in a climate of increased complexity and uncertainty in competitive environments. Critical thinking skills are essential for making decisions at a senior level.
The EMBA gives you these skills which will enable you to accelerate your career, whether your goal is a senior executive of a large corporation, to start your own company, or to change your career. Not only will you learn these essential skills, but you will also learn about yourself: your strengths, weaknesses, and how you interact with others.
The curriculum is designed to be challenging and to ensure that you will be able to take on the leadership role of a general manager. Courses are sequenced to first sharpen your knowledge and understanding of the key functional areas of management. This would include important areas such as finance, marketing, and operations management. From there, the courses delve into the latest in management theory and practices. There is a strong focus on leadership, strategy, and international business.
The program is structured so that individuals can continue to work full-time and still complete their degree in two years. While it is an intensive program, the schedule has been designed with work-life balance in mind.
