The Red River College Polytechnic (RRC) Construction Management degree program focuses on the management skills needed in heavy, industrial and commercial, and residential construction. Students who should consider this program are learners who are looking to develop managerial expertise and are already working in areas related to the skilled trades, engineering, or engineering technologies.
The program curriculum focuses on technology, science, leadership, and management. Students will learn how to work effectively in all construction management settings. Program learning outcomes comply with codes, laws, and regulations while respecting sustainable environmental practices.
Students will complete six-month co-op terms after the first three years.
What You’ll Learn
- Technical foundations: algebra and trigonometry, computer and communication fundamentals, construction graphics, statistics, construction safety, surveying, technical communications, materials and methods, probability and statistics, and strength of materials.
- Technical expertise: report writing, environmental management, infrastructure design, structural analysis, project management, structural design, building systems and codes, and materials science and testing.
- Gold Seal and management details: construction planning and scheduling, quantity surveying, construction law, principles of management and leadership, energy efficient systems in construction, and project costing control and accounting.
- Leadership and management: engineering economics, inspections, quality control, construction and environment issues, human resources management, risk management, and water and wastewater.
