Mohawk College’s Records and Information Management program is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to manage information assets effectively across all types of organizations. As the volume and complexity of information continue to grow, and automated technologies become more prevalent, businesses, non-profits, and government agencies increasingly rely on skilled professionals to organize, control, and safeguard their records throughout their entire lifecycle.

This program provides a solid foundation in key areas such as document management technologies, archives, and both active and fundamental records management practices. Students also explore the broader challenges and opportunities of modern information management. To complete the program, students must take five core courses and one communication-focused elective, ensuring they graduate with both technical expertise and strong professional communication skills essential for today’s information management roles.

Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

What You’ll Learn

  • Implement effective records management practices across the full information lifecycle.
  • Use document management technologies to organize and control digital and physical records.
  • Understand archival principles and the long-term preservation of information.
  • Analyze modern information management challenges and develop strategic solutions.

This is my second time attending this college, when I attended years ago it was a very different experience. The school held many events, frosh week was always a blast, the campus is massive, free gym membership on campus, and they have great selection of food, downside was parking was usually a nightmare. This year is a bit different, with classes online its a bit hectic, confusing and I knew it would be. In my course the professors are very supportive, the layout is making a bit more sense each day, the it department have been fantastic. One thing I will say is that it can be a bit difficult to get some answers from certain departments, but my course professors are doing a great job so far!

A great college, excellent faculty, and programs: check out the General Arts and Science Program if you aren’t sure about your next step in your academic journey - they also have a university transfer program. Why spend an extra year at high school when you can get credit for college and university programs.
