While most organizations have a language and process in place to embrace diversity and inclusion, without effectively addressing the inequities in our systems–such as the unequal distribution of power and resources–individuals and organizations will always stop short of their full potential.

The UBC Certificate in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) offers pathways to move away from optics and performative allyship, to effective and transformative action. By centering and amplifying the voices, lived experiences and perspectives of historically marginalized groups, the program focuses on collective solidarity and co-creation of justice-centered, equitable and inclusive communities and workplaces.

What You’ll Learn

  • Analyze historical and contemporary processes of equity, diversity, and inclusion in Canadian organizations.
  • Develop practical strategies and tools to challenge systemic and organizational barriers to EDI.
  • Reflect on personal positionality and understand the impact of power, privilege, and white supremacy.
  • Design and implement an equity, diversity, and inclusion strategy tailored to your organization.
  • Learn to redistribute power and create justice-centered, inclusive workplace environments.
  • Build skills to foster respectful, equitable, and mutually productive relationships in organizational settings.

A good and inexpensive introduction to copywriting with some time spent on relevant business concepts. I wish I had taken Writing for Content Marketing, as that's what I'm more interested in, but I guess this course helped me learn that about myself. There are no grades, just assignments, for this course. Overall, I probably spent about 3 hours per week on the material and got in some face-time with the instructor.
