The Heavy Equipment program at Transport Training Centres of Canada (TTCC) provides students with a strong foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of operating heavy machinery used in construction and earthmoving industries. The program begins with one week of classroom-based training that introduces core concepts common to all types of heavy equipment. Topics include hydraulic systems, ground engagement tools, surveying and site plans, job site safety, generally accepted hand signals, equipment maintenance, pre-operating procedures, ground disturbance awareness, and environmental considerations related to earthmoving operations.

Following the foundational theory, students participate in extensive hands-on training designed to build real-world operating skills. Under the guidance of experienced industry instructors, participants practice operating equipment such as backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, graders, and loaders in simulated job-site environments at TTCC’s Oshawa training grounds. This practical training prepares students to handle the challenges of active work sites and helps them develop the confidence and operational ability sought by employers in Oshawa and surrounding communities, including Whitby, Ajax, and Pickering.

Dates subject to change.

It could be rough at times to get proper service. Eventually things went well, but at times I feel like myself and others had a feeling of just being lost in the shuffle.

My instructors in Cornwall we're amazing. Willing to go above and beyond to ensure that I had all the resources necessary to achive success. Mixed feelings about ones I encountered from other terminal. That being said, again, the ones in Cornwall never made me feel like a burden or that there was any chance that I wouldn't succeed. A special shout out to John. I was his first student and right from day 1, his work ethic was professional and concise. We learned together and not for a minute did it feel like a disadvantage to be paired with an instructor who hadn't already been there for years.

I took the DZ automatic training course at the ttcc london ontario location in november 2025. What a waste of my time and money! Very disorganized school, terrible driving instructor , I was set up to fail and I did. I got approximately 5 hours of in truck training over 2 days.... on the day of my drive test the school changed my test time without informing me and I missed my test by an hour. My test was rescheduled for 3 weeks later with no additional training or refreshers in between. Needless to say I was not familiar with the truck and failed the test. Don't waste your time or money on the scam school!
