Mohawk College’s Community and Social Services Management program is designed to equip learners with the leadership and management skills needed to guide organizations across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. Through a focus on social purpose and community impact, the program explores how business, government, and society intersect, while preparing students to address complex social challenges through innovative and ethical management practices. Learners develop an understanding of market-based strategies, corporate responsibility, and social entrepreneurship within the context of community development and the social economy.

Delivered in a flexible, executive-style format for working professionals, the program emphasizes applied, solution-based learning supported by industry partners and project-based assignments. Students build core competencies in leadership, project management, communication, and stakeholder collaboration while learning to adapt management approaches to evolving organizational needs. The curriculum also strengthens skills in ethical decision-making, systems analysis, and entrepreneurial thinking, preparing graduates to lead initiatives that balance organizational effectiveness with meaningful social impact across diverse community settings.

Students are required to complete twelve courses, including studying foundational topics such as the Canadian social economy, public administration, social entrepreneurship, ethical practice, management fundamentals, and project management. Learning expands to include business applications, corporate social responsibility, leadership and communications, resource development and civic engagement, human resources for community management, and an integrated applied learning project.

This is my second time attending this college, when I attended years ago it was a very different experience. The school held many events, frosh week was always a blast, the campus is massive, free gym membership on campus, and they have great selection of food, downside was parking was usually a nightmare. This year is a bit different, with classes online its a bit hectic, confusing and I knew it would be. In my course the professors are very supportive, the layout is making a bit more sense each day, the it department have been fantastic. One thing I will say is that it can be a bit difficult to get some answers from certain departments, but my course professors are doing a great job so far!
