Université du Québec à Rimouski’s Bachelor of Social Work program prepares students to become versatile social intervention professionals capable of supporting individuals, groups, and communities facing complex social challenges. Grounded in the values of social justice, well-being, and meaningful social change, the program encourages students to develop a critical and reflective understanding of social issues and the diverse realities experienced within communities. Students gain the knowledge and skills needed to respond thoughtfully and ethically to evolving social needs while building a strong professional foundation recognized across Quebec and Canada through eligibility for the Order of Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists of Quebec.

The program combines theoretical learning with extensive practical training through two major internships completed during the final year of study. These placements, arranged through the university’s practical training team, allow students to gain hands-on experience in settings such as health and social services, schools, and community organizations. Students develop competencies in multiple modes of intervention, including work with individuals, groups, and communities, while strengthening their critical thinking, openness, and professional judgment. With a dynamic and practice-focused approach, graduates leave prepared to contribute effectively to social well-being and positive change in diverse environments.
