Conestoga’s Bookkeeping program equips students with a comprehensive set of skills and knowledge in just one year, preparing them to become valuable assets to small and mid-sized organizations or gain a solid understanding of the bookkeeping needs for their own businesses. The program covers essential topics such as financial accounting, personal income tax, and payroll, while also focusing on developing critical interpersonal and collaborative skills necessary for building relationships with clients, colleagues, and industry contacts.

Taught by dedicated faculty with extensive industry experience, this one-year Ontario College certificate allows students to work with industry-standard software, as well as emerging tools used in the field.

By enrolling in this program, students will align themselves with Canada’s largest and fastest-growing certifying body of bookkeepers. Those who begin the program in fall 2021 or later will have the opportunity to fast-track toward the nationally recognized Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation. Additionally, students will have access to a preferred student membership rate, offering various member benefits, including continuing education and networking opportunities with bookkeeping professionals across Canada.

What You’ll Learn

  • Apply bookkeeping practices and procedures related to financial reporting, analysis and control.
  • Apply payroll record-keeping practices and procedures forming part of a human resource management system.
  • Utilize the knowledge, skills and abilities required in successful business practice with a primary focus on financial administration.
  • Apply computer practices and techniques, especially as these pertain to cash, accounts receivable, capital assets and inventories;
  • Use a variety of accounting and related software packages competently.
  • Apply knowledge of the Canadian income tax system, for the accurate preparation of payroll remittances and accurate information for T4 preparation.
  • Apply the techniques of business mathematics to business processes.
  • Maintain traditional and automated record control systems.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a business environment.

This program has been very poorly administered from a scheduling standpoint.

The course is divided into 5 levels with scheduled breaks between each level. When Levels 3 and 4 became available, I registered and arranged my vacation time with work around the published schedule and the week break between levels.

Only one week before Level 3 was supposed to begin, the start date was delayed by a week. This now places my previously approved vacation during the final week of the level.

What is even more frustrating is that there has been no clear communication on whether the remaining levels will also shift by a week or whether they plan to remove the scheduled break between Levels 3 and 4 entirely.

Most students in part-time evening programs are balancing work and personal commitments, so reliable scheduling and timely communication are important. Delays can happen, but changing dates with very little notice and failing to provide a clear updated schedule shows a lack of organization and consideration for students.

conestoga refuses to give me back my money due to the fact that i didnt withdrew on time, despite showing my health related isses why i was unable to withdrew on time, they still refuses which means to me that they dont really care about international student wellbeing. Also, during exams i didnt know the camera didnt caption my student card properly, despite the professor seeing me bring it out of my pocket i was giving zero for someone learning how to use computer to write exams for the first time, because of that i have to pay addictional $1000+ to rewrite the course just because the camera didnt capture the card properly how ridiculous. Conestoga will do anything to rip international student. I wont recommend this school even to my enemy.
