Learn in-demand skills to launch a new career in cybersecurity with BrainStation’s immersive bootcamp. Passwords, antivirus software and other tools are an important part of remaining secure, but ultimately, it’s the right mindset and a strong foundational knowledge that defines a successful cybersecurity professional. With this program, students will learn what defines security, learn essential cybersecurity skills like basic programming, and explore critical topics like access control and firewalls.

A successful cybersecurity program relies on both defensive and offensive measures to keep people, processes, and technology secure. Students will dive into these two sides of security, learning how information is communicated across computer networks. Students will then build on this foundation and explore how systems are exploited (offensive) and what can be done proactively to secure data (defensive).

Finally, students get to take both the knowledge and skills students have learned to the next level by exploring more advanced cybersecurity concepts. Student will develop a foundational understanding of software development and scripting, along with a deeper appreciation of coding and ethical hacking for cybersecurity. Students will also expand your understanding of threats and app security, while building a strategic mindset to assess vulnerabilities and evaluate threat landscapes. Close off the unit by learning how to approach incident management and response.

The Product Management course led by Guy Walker and George Odiana exceeded my expectations. Coming from a marketing background, I was brand new to this topic and slightly apprehensive about whether I would 'get it' and whether I could really succeed in an online course (it's been years since I've taken any kind of course, I was rusty). My concerns were quickly squashed by Guy and Walker who delivered the material in an incredibly thorough and engaging manner, allowing the class to participate freely throughout the sessions and answering all of our questions without judgement. Our class was comprised of students from all over the globe, and as we progressed through the weeks and became more comfortable with one another, it truly felt like we were back in school with our peers . Throughout the 8 weeks, I was able to apply some key learnings from this course to my current role and I know I will continue to do so as I continue down my career path, wherever that may take me. I can honestly say I would recommend this course to anyone who is not only curious about Product Management but about continuing education in general. The knowledge obtained was only surpassed by the confidence I gained throughout these two months, proving to myself that it's never too late to learn something new :)

    BrainStation courses are BYOL (bring your own laptop). This allows you to complete homework in the comfort of your own home and to become comfortable with your machine to continue your learning beyond completion of the course.

  • Can I just learn on my own?

    Ultimately people are social learners, there is nothing that can substitute a classroom of students as eager to learn as yourself. It may take you years to learn something on your own without proper guidance.
