CareerFoundry offers mentored online courses in UX design, UI design and web development. The Berlin, Germany-based online educator is focused on helping beginners become tech professionals in as little as six months with help from dedicated mentors, tutors and career specialists. According to CareerFoundry, 96 percent of graduates land a job in their field within 180 days of graduation.

CareerFoundry’s Online Learning Experience

CareerFoundry’s online learning environment lets students track their progress using a dashboard and connect in real-time with student advisors and tutors on a daily basis. Lessons are broken down into broad topics called Achievements, each of which is supported by a series of hands-on exercises designed to mimic actual work projects. Students work in close collaboration with a tutor toward building a robust portfolio.

What Students Are Saying

The Web Development program at CareerFoundry covers the full-stack. Tutor support was the best part of the experience by far. I got hours of a professional's time each week to work through challenges. I did use additional resources like freeCodeCamp for some sections where I wanted to explore more than CF offered, like Ruby, but I would say all developers should be using everything available to them to learn. Mentorship time could have been more flexible. On two occasions, my Mentor was available after 9pm, so I ended up waiting a full week for his schedule to clear for help with career questions. Final bit of feedback was that I think more time should be spent on JavaScript. Overall, worth the time and money. Small improvements would make this the perfect course, IMO.

What Students Are Saying

Over the past ten weeks I completed the Web Development Online Live course through BrainStation. Coming into the program, I did not have a web dev or programming background and found that it wasn't a prerequisite to be successful in the program. In the span of 10 weeks I went from having no knowledge to being able to build a fully responsive web page with HTML and CSS. I've since been able to extend this learning to my job in ways I never would have thought possible. The instructor was engaging and a true industry practitioner. Highly recommend for those who are looking to take their first steps into web programming.

Springboard’s Online Learning Experience

You’ll fill out an online profile detailing your availability and the skills you want to develop before being matched with a mentor. Working one-on-one with your mentor, students apply lessons to real-world scenarios through case studies, problem sets, and project-based assignments. Online modules, resources and an online interactive community of students are also available to help you reach your goals.

What Students Are Saying

Mentorship at Springboard is the primary value of the program. You get a personal mentor and 30-minute weekly calls to keep you on track with your independent "capstone" projects. My mentor was a successful data scientist from a well-known tech company; knowledgeable, invested in me getting a job, and super friendly. On top of that, I had a career coach to help guide me through my job hunt. The career coach won't do the work for you, but I had all of my materials like my resume and portfolio reviewed by her. I also had mock interviews to help me prepare and got helpful tips about how to promote my work and where to find job opportunities. For me, Springboard helped me do what I couldn't do on my own using free online resources and content from around the web. Curriculum was good, but it was all the extra support and guidance that made it worth it.

What Students Are Saying

In my early years of my career I've had exposure to product management in a variety of tech roles, but at the company I worked for there was no discipline or structure on this. It appeared as though there were pockets of expertise on it spread across the org. I had a voracious appetite to learn more and found this essential to my career progression. I'm grateful to have taken the Product Management course with General Assembly as this helped fill in the gaps I needed to make the full transition into a Product Manager role. The course empowered me with the tools and knowledge I needed to take on a problem I was passionate about solving and transforming into a viable business product. I now feel a lot more confident and ecstatic to apply what I've learned in my current role and in my side projects. A BIG SHOUTOUT also to my teacher Andrew Kumar for helping carve out this new path for me.

UofT’s SCS Coding Boot Camp is a part-time Full Stack Flex course that equips students with the fundamental skills needed to become a full stack web developer. The cutting-edge curriculum not only covers the basics of coding, algorithms and data structure, but takes students through intensive training in JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Java, and more.

UofT Coding Boot Camp’s Online Learning Experience

UofT’s flexible, self-paced, online coding bootcamp consists of three main phases in which students “build,” “apply” and “execute” based on what they learn. At each stop, students can tap into various channels for support including their Teaching Assistants (TAs), Program Support Manager (PSM), dedicated mentor, community Slack channel, or the online learner portal.

What Students Are Saying

I enrolled in the weekday course and find it challenging and extremely rewarding. I've read a lot of negative reviews about the program online (the program IS in its first year), but they all seem to be from the same class being run on the weekend at UofT. My instructor is an industry professional who is knowledgable and willing to do whatever it takes to help students become full-stack developers when they graduate. Having said that, I do think there are minor wrinkles to iron out: like finding bigger classrooms and more working outlets, streamlining assignment material, and making the online learning platform easier to use. A company called Trilogy Education is actually running this program out of UofT. Better coordination between Trilogy and the university might help. Ultimately, the curriculum is very good. If you're an independent learner who has a full-time job, then the SCS coding bootcamp will deliver in ways that other full-time front-end heavy bootcamps will not. The unique 24-week timeline and scope of topics are what really drew me to the course. On those points, it's delivered.
