“The Web Development program at CareerFoundry covers the full-stack. Tutor support was the best part of the experience by far. I got hours of a professional's time each week to work through challenges. I did use additional resources like freeCodeCamp for some sections where I wanted to explore more than CF offered, like Ruby, but I would say all developers should be using everything available to them to learn. Mentorship time could have been more flexible. On two occasions, my Mentor was available after 9pm, so I ended up waiting a full week for his schedule to clear for help with career questions. Final bit of feedback was that I think more time should be spent on JavaScript. Overall, worth the time and money. Small improvements would make this the perfect course, IMO. ”

“Over the past ten weeks I completed the Web Development Online Live course through BrainStation. Coming into the program, I did not have a web dev or programming background and found that it wasn't a prerequisite to be successful in the program. In the span of 10 weeks I went from having no knowledge to being able to build a fully responsive web page with HTML and CSS. I've since been able to extend this learning to my job in ways I never would have thought possible. The instructor was engaging and a true industry practitioner. Highly recommend for those who are looking to take their first steps into web programming. ”

“Mentorship at Springboard is the primary value of the program. You get a personal mentor and 30-minute weekly calls to keep you on track with your independent "capstone" projects. My mentor was a successful data scientist from a well-known tech company; knowledgeable, invested in me getting a job, and super friendly. On top of that, I had a career coach to help guide me through my job hunt. The career coach won't do the work for you, but I had all of my materials like my resume and portfolio reviewed by her. I also had mock interviews to help me prepare and got helpful tips about how to promote my work and where to find job opportunities. For me, Springboard helped me do what I couldn't do on my own using free online resources and content from around the web. Curriculum was good, but it was all the extra support and guidance that made it worth it. ”

“In my early years of my career I've had exposure to product management in a variety of tech roles, but at the company I worked for there was no discipline or structure on this. It appeared as though there were pockets of expertise on it spread across the org. I had a voracious appetite to learn more and found this essential to my career progression. I'm grateful to have taken the Product Management course with General Assembly as this helped fill in the gaps I needed to make the full transition into a Product Manager role. The course empowered me with the tools and knowledge I needed to take on a problem I was passionate about solving and transforming into a viable business product. “I enrolled in the weekday course and find it challenging and extremely rewarding. I've read a lot of negative reviews about the program online (the program IS in its first year), but they all seem to be from the same class being run on the weekend at UofT. My instructor is an industry professional who is knowledgable and willing to do whatever it takes to help students become full-stack developers when they graduate. Having said that, I do think there are minor wrinkles to iron out: like finding bigger classrooms and more working outlets, streamlining assignment material, and making the online learning platform easier to use. A company called Trilogy Education is actually running this program out of UofT. Better coordination between Trilogy and the university might help. Ultimately, the curriculum is very good. If you're an independent learner who has a full-time job, then the SCS coding bootcamp will deliver in ways that other full-time front-end heavy bootcamps will not. The unique 24-week timeline and scope of topics are what really drew me to the course. On those points, it's delivered. ”
