The Music Technologies program is offered through a partnership between the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Camosun. The program is comprised of a series of courses which may be taken part-time through distributed (distance) learning over 3 semesters. The program is designed for accomplished musicians who wish to acquire a basic competency in digital technologies applicable to modern practice in professional music-making. This credential supplements and complements traditional practical or academic post-secondary music credentials and may be taken either parallel to the Music Performance program or other post-secondary music credential, or concurrent with active professional practice in music.
Students undertake study in the four pillars of music technologies: digital notation; music sequencing; digital instrumentation; audio recording, mixing, editing. Students study basic software and hardware technologies and explore practical applications of technologies in a distributed delivery format.
Upon completion of the program, graduates are well prepared to apply basic music technologies to the active practice of music in a professional or educational setting, or to continue to the advanced study of individual technologies for personal or professional use.
What You’ll Learn
- Discuss and assess music technologies, software, and hardware applicable to digital notation; music sequencing; digital instrumentation; audio recording, mixing and editing.
- Apply music technology hardware and software to the practice of music in a professional or academic music setting.

I love this college. Every member of the staff that I met; was compassionate, kind, and helpful. Sudbury is a town with a lot of really caring people and that really shows in this college. Security Guards, Janitors, and Professors all seamlessly working together to deliver the best experience to their students. I’d love to see their medic labs one day. The campus is beautiful and the community is strong.
Vending machines are frequently finicky though, so best bet is to avoid cash and go for change or using the app. I’m pretty sure all of the ones in the Cafeteria are operational, but again avoid bills.
Best of luck with your studies!
