UofT’s SCS Coding Boot Camp is a full-time Full Stack Flex course that equips learners with the fundamental skills needed to become a full stack web developer. In this immersive, 12-week, full-time program students will stretch their knowledge to new limits, building dynamic end-to-end web applications.

The cutting-edge curriculum not only covers the basics of coding, algorithms and data structure, but takes learners through intensive training in JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Java, and more. In addition to engaging classroom instruction, students spend 20 hours a week on outside projects and experiential learning activities. These collaborative coding projects help students build a comprehensive professional portfolio to showcase their abilities and hone their competitive edge in the job market.

In addition, the career services team provides students with the training and guidance needed for their job search. Through resume and social media profile support, industry speakers, portfolio reviews, career coaching, technical interview training, and more, students will be empowered to find the job that’s right.

What You’ll Learn

  • Understand the process of serving a webpage and how the browser renders code
  • Build front-end websites from scratch, as well as with ready-made frameworks
  • Create full-stack, single-page web applications with RESTful routes and AJAX methods
  • Generate dynamic content and implement user-authentication schemes by incorporating different types of databases—MySQL, MongoDB and Firebase
  • Develop apps while applying the accepted and standard basics of social coding—source control, issue tracking, functional feedback, etc.
  • Run through the entire development cycle of complex projects in both independent and collaborative settings

I took the foundations and accelerated courses over 1.5 years while working in an ad agency in downtown Toronto. The courses really helped me up my game as I managed work for a cross-functional team. The experience gave me the knowledge and tools to implement new practices and help everyone get on the same page. We are now more efficient and accountable to clients as a result. I didn't need the PDUs, so people preparing to write exams or maintain certification might want to look at more options than just UofTSCS, but for me it was exactly what I needed.
