Lead organizations through turbulent times or prepare for change by identifying, analyzing and working to mitigate potential or current risks.
This program prepares you to step into the role of a risk manager and risk management analyst, or helps you to upskill if you have recently taken on risk management responsibilities. The program also prepares graduates to earn the CRM designation.
In six months of part-time study, you will gain a thorough understanding of hazard, operational, financial, and strategic risk concepts and learn to identify, analyze, and treat risks. You will also explore methods for assessing risk and identifying appropriate treatments for risk minimization, and how to motivate risk treatment within an organization.
Developed in collaboration with leaders in the field, the specialized knowledge and skills you will gain are current, relevant and immediately actionable. You will learn from instructors who are risk management experts and collaborate with your classmates who are professionals from a range of industries, helping you to bolster your career contacts.
Graduates of the Certificate in Risk Management are eligible and encouraged to write the exams for the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation.

I enrolled in the Human Resources Management course from York University with course instructor Amina Malik. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the textbook and completing the interactive assignments via the discussion board. Amina was actively involved by posting comments and providing advice on the boards.
The textbook "Managing Human Resources" authored by Belcourt, M., Bohlander, G., & Snell, S. is very well written and organized. It contains a lot of relevant and up-to-date information, as well as many case studies, an ethics in HRM feature, and other ways to help students learn and apply the material.
I have to be honest in saying that I didn't really enjoy the multimedia presentations as much as the book, but that may be just a personal learning style. The ones that I covered were detailed and well presented.
I would recommend this course to anyone wishing to gain more training and knowledge about Human Resources. It is part of the CPHR program offered here:

I enjoyed the experience at York University. The Director of my program (Advanced Certificate in Accounting) was very knowledgeable and guided me when I had questions regarding my school curriculum. Moreover, staff is always ready to help, teachers are passionate about their jobs. For me, the most rewarding aspect was to meet exceptional classmates with whom I learned a lot. Thanks to #YUSCS!
