Massage Therapy Program

MaKami College’s two-year massage therapy program offers the highest level of massage therapy training in Alberta, including plenty of hands-on training with potential clientele as well as practicum placements where you can practice your new skills. MaKami massage therapy graduates enter the field with the knowledge and expertise to confidently pursue their professional massage therapy careers.

Learners will apply the principles of physical, health sciences, and social sciences as they relate to massage therapy in the classroom, simulated clinical environments, and clinical placements in the community or our on-campus clinics. The advanced massage therapy certification allows graduates the ability to provide health insurance claim receipts upon graduation and licensing.

Admission Requirements

• Must be minimum 17 years of age.
• Successful interview with school administration.
• Alberta high school diploma/non-Alberta equivalent.

• Injury prevention techniques and principles of anatomy and physiology.
• Osteology, myology, and pathology relevant to massage therapy.
• Overview of massage therapy as a profession and treatments involved.
• Ethics, communication, and business/employment preparation for massage therapists.
• Swedish, deep tissue, sports, lymphatic, and prenatal massage techniques.
• Hydrotherapy, orthopedic assessment, and clinical practice (supervised).
• Advanced massage techniques, including neuromuscular, myofascial, and cupping treatments.
• Nutrition, wellness, therapeutic exercise, and psychology of the body for massage therapy.
