Computer Science

The University of Calgary, through its Faculty of Science, offers a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science, providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary for careers in fields such as software development, data analysis, and cybersecurity.

The program allows students to specialize in various areas within the evolving field of computing, including game design, information security, and privacy. Opportunities exist to collaborate with leading researchers on projects that enhance computer graphics for movies and games, develop innovative human-computer interaction methods, and create detailed models of the Earth’s surface and outer space.

The Science Internship Program enables students to gain practical experience and develop workplace skills through internships in roles such as software developer, cloud architect, and software engineer with a focus on UX, AI, or machine learning. Additionally, students can engage in research projects with faculty members during their second, third, or fourth year, either through summer research opportunities funded by undergraduate research grants or by enrolling in research project courses.
