The University of Fredericton’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is designed for early-mid career professionals and managers of companies who aspire to lead their organization towards higher performance. The program will provide learners with the skills to advance their career, and drive organizational results. Students will enhance their ability for critical thinking and have the opportunity to collaborate and network with students and faculty across Canada and around the world – all while applying their learning real-time without interrupting their career momentum.
The MBA is a flexible program that has been developed for working professionals. UFred ensures students are able to balance their studies with their careers and other personal and professional commitments. With the ability to pause their studies at any time, UFred ensures students can take a break in their program as required.
Each course in the MBA program requires attendance of one virtual class (vClass) a week. vClasses take place in the evening between Monday and Thursday, at the earliest 6:00 p.m. EST, and typically last 1-2 hours.
Students begin their studies by completing a series of foundational courses, each lasting 11 weeks, that offer a deep dive into economics, organizational strategy, and leadership theory. The courses contain a combination of individual assignments and group work projects, giving plenty of opportunities to network.
Once the foundational courses are completed, students will begin their selected specialty leadership stream: you can choose 1 stream out of 9 available options. Each stream focuses on a different business area, such as human resource management, consulting, or business analytics.
The final stage of your MBA program is the group integration project, where students will apply all that they have learned to a real organization of their group’s choosing. Group will have 14 weeks to complete the integration project before a final presentation. The International Field Study (IFS) is offered as an option within the Global Capstone Project, and offers the chance to travel internationally in order to help develop a deeper understanding of the complexity of doing business in the global economy.

I took the Diploma in Safety, Health, and Environmental Management program at UFred because it was a fully online program that offered a lot of flexibility. It allowed me to complete courses at my own pace, within reason, as each course is approximately eight weeks in duration.
I found the instructor-led live classes excellent, as they were delivered by working professionals with extensive experience in their respective fields. The pre-recorded classes also provided valuable insights into specific topics that directly related to the course material.
The workload for most of the courses (about 90%) was manageable. However, there was one course where the homework and reading assignments felt excessive for an eight-week program.
Learning at UFred was straightforward: logging in and following the links for each module. I particularly appreciated the self-checks after each module document before the quizzes. Accessing information for a quick review before completing a quiz was easy, as the content could be downloaded with just a click.
I enjoyed how the content was delivered through slide decks and virtual classes. It effectively focused on the essential information needed to achieve the desired learning outcomes for each module.
The staff and course facilitators were excellent and helpful. Anytime I had questions, I was able to email the instructor and typically received a response within two days—or often the same day.
Overall, I had a positive experience at UFred and highly recommend them to any working professional with limited time who wants to pursue higher education.
Great way to learn

I'm very pleased I made the decision to go back to school. I'm at the beginning and enjoy my journey. It is not easy to combine work and school balance but I feel Ufred supports me well.
