Eastern College’s Child and Youth Care with Addictions Support Worker program prepares students for a meaningful career supporting children, adolescents, and families facing social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. Offered at the Moncton campus, the diploma combines hands-on learning with in-depth theoretical knowledge, covering psychological development, resilience-building, addiction awareness, family dynamics, and prevention planning. Students gain the skills to provide compassionate, effective care while developing a strong foundation in professional practices and interpersonal communication.
The program also equips graduates with several key certifications, including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), First Aid, CPR, and Acquired Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). Field trips, volunteer opportunities, and a field placement provide practical experience, while coursework in child and youth care approaches, group and individual work, mental health awareness, and diversity and advocacy ensures students are prepared to make a positive impact in their communities. Graduates leave the program ready to step confidently into professional roles in child and youth care and addictions support.
A 6-week internship option is available.
