The Heavy Equipment Operator program at NBCC equips students with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform earth, gravel, and rock movement in a competitive construction and industrial environment. The program focuses on real-world production activities while emphasizing safe and efficient operating practices. Students gain an understanding of workplace expectations, environmental responsibility, relevant legislation, preventative maintenance, basic equipment repairs, and essential industrial safety principles that support successful work on active job sites.
Through extensive hands-on training, learners develop confidence and proficiency operating a range of industry-standard machinery. Equipment training includes loaders, dozers, excavators, graders, backhoes, and compact rollers, allowing students to experience the different functions and applications of each machine. This practical approach prepares graduates to enter the workforce with the operational experience and safety awareness needed for careers in heavy equipment operation and related fields.
