Select Aviation College’s EWA.1G Commercial Air Transport Pilot – CPL Helicopter program offers helicopter enthusiasts the experience of a lifetime. In addition to all the academic benefits of a college program (765 hours of theory), the program also includes 135 hours of total flight time. The flying period consists of six hours on a turbine helicopter, a survival experience in the forest and a night flight rating.

All flights in this program are performed on Robinson R44 helicopters, and the turbine rating on Bell 505.

Finally, this program’s aviation English and job preparation courses will help students to stand out in their first job interviews.

In addition to the College evaluations, PPHEL and CPHEL Transport Canada written exams must be passed. At the end of this training, pilots will have obtained licenses and ratings: PPL, CPL, Night, and Turbine rating.

Required Hours

  • 765 hours of theory
  • 135 hours of flight training

I completed my flight training at Select Aviation a few years ago, and I couldn't be more pleased with the overall experience. Over the years, I've witnessed their school's impressive growth, and they've recently unveiled state-of-the-art facilities in Gatineau/Ottawa, which truly showcase their commitment to excellence. I highly recommend taking the 360-degree virtual tour on Google Maps to explore their stunning new premises—it's a fantastic way to get a glimpse of their upgraded facilities!

Where do I start!
by far one of the coolest places to do your flight training in the country, I had the chance to visit and train at flight schools in the US and Canada and I can tell you from experience that Select Aviation is at it's own level!
-Great fleet of airplanes, I dare you to find a better maintained fleet, these guys are on top of maintenance, they do most of it in-house and surely don't cut on cost, that means safer and better looking airplanes than most places I have seen.
-Great people culture, from the owners to the dispatchers you can tell that is a caring institution, always striving for improvement in the way they provide training, not only training, they want people to have a great experience during their time at the school, not only in but outside of campus, surely they are victims of their own success when it comes to finding student housing, every one wants to be part of a growing, successful institution!
-Opportunity for growth! where else in Canada can you go on to become a flight instructor and built your hours as fast as you can do it here? the industry is booming and the faster you get some experience the faster you can move on to the airlines.
-No, it is not a perfect school but surely they are on the path of becoming one of the best flight schools in North America, remember the formula for success:
Knowledge + Experience x Attitude= SUCCESS!
Attitude is a multiplying factor and these company has great attitude.
Don't just believe a random post on the internet, go see for yourself the thriving environment at Select Aviation
