Collision repair technicians enjoy the challenge of repairing and refinishing a wide variety of automobiles. Each new job calls on your problem-solving abilities, plus a little creativity and imagination. You also have to develop a variety of skills from welding and metalworking, to electrical, mechanical, plastic repair, refinishing and structural analysis.

In this program, you learn procedures for welding, repairing and aligning body panels. You also learn how to prepare and paint surfaces, and how to use electronic databases to estimate costs related to vehicle damage.

All repair procedures are completed in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications and Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) Canada standards.

Field experience (work placement) is a mandatory credit course completed at the end of your program. It provides you with the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills outside of the classroom. Opportunities are typically unpaid and last approximately 5 weeks.
