Mohawk College’s Business Administration – Accounting program is designed to develop advanced accounting skills in areas such as financial accounting, management control, corporate taxation, and audit. Graduates are well-prepared for responsible positions in business and industry, including roles in accounting firms, cost accounting, and financial management. The program offers opportunities for transfer to degree-granting institutions, enabling students to pursue their Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, allowing students to work on client projects focused on budgeting and cost management. Students gain expertise in recording financial transactions in compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for various types of organizations, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, and non-profits. They also learn to prepare and present financial statements and reports, apply advanced management accounting concepts, and assist in strategic decision-making.

Students also gain hands-on experience in tax preparation, evaluating organizational structures, and assessing the impact of economic, legal, and technological factors on business operations. The program covers the analysis of internal control systems, risk management, and advanced financial management concepts. Additionally, students develop skills in project management, learning to plan, implement, manage, and evaluate team projects. The program is taught by faculty with professional CPA designations, who bring real-world experience into the classroom.

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
