The Computer Systems Technology – Software Development program at Mohawk College equips students with the skills needed for a successful career in software development. The program provides a hands-on learning experience that covers a broad range of topics, including programming languages, web and mobile app development, database design, and systems analysis. Students gain practical experience with a variety of programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, and Swift, as well as web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
The curriculum also includes mobile application development for both Android and iOS, and the use of frameworks and tools like IntelliJ, Visual Studio, and Android Studio. Students explore database architecture with MySQL, quality assurance testing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) using Raspberry Pi. They also gain expertise in project management, technical writing, and business analysis. As part of their education, students work on a capstone project that allows them to apply their learning in real-world scenarios, further preparing them for careers in software development and IT. The program’s diverse focus areas and emphasis on practical skills ensure graduates are well-prepared for a variety of roles in the tech industry.
