This Social Service Worker program emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning, including 600 hours of supervised field placement. Students build practical skills while advocating for social justice and connecting with like-minded peers and professionals in the field. Supportive faculty guide students through a curriculum grounded in ethics, self-awareness, and social change.
Students learn key counselling, group work, and community development skills, as well as documentation practices and ethical decision-making models. The program explores contemporary theories and interventions, the impact of Canadian laws and policies, and the importance of Indigenous ways of knowing—all rooted in core SSW values such as human dignity, empowerment, and the right to risk.
