Ivey’s program is not simply a set of courses, but an action-oriented learning experience designed to accelerate your success in the real world. In their case-based approach, you’ll learn everything you’d learn from a lecture and more: you’ll be the decision-maker, asked to analyze the data, develop alternatives, make and defend your recommendations.

Taking an MBA is a deeply rewarding experience that can, ultimately, help advance your career. At Ivey, they recognize that part of the big cost of doing your MBA is time away from the workforce. That’s why their program is designed in one year instead of two, minimizing your opportunity cost while providing a world-class package of intense curriculum that will help you to achieve your career goals and get you back into the workforce quickly.

Ivey Business School’s MBA is the only case-based program in Canada. While other schools lead with lectures and have case examples here and there, Ivey goes beyond lecturing, employing approximately 300 cases per year and bringing real-world examples to the forefront of the class every day.

Ivey’s elective courses allow you to pursue targeted skills and expertise in your areas of interest. You are free to create your own MBA specialization by choosing the courses that suit your desired career path. You may select up to 12 elective courses as you customize the program to your liking. Alternatively, you may choose one of our prearranged specializations. Either way you choose, your MBA from Ivey Business School will prepare you for career success.

Ivey is known for its case method approach, which means you’ll get less theory and more presenting and dissecting real business scenarios here. This is valuable because it will expose you to real issues and train you to make decisions, just like you will in the business world. This is extended in case competitions held by Ivey with other schools. For soft skills, this is a great way to learn.

The case-based classes were exciting, but they depend on the quality of students as much or more than the professor. Some students don't have enough experience or reading behind them to contribute, so some classes dragged on.

The degree is also one of the most expensive in Canada. It was worth it for me, but people should have a clear idea of why they’re applying and what they want to get out of it. You don’t want to shell out $60k+ only to learn finance or consulting aren’t for you, or that a cheaper program could have helped you get where you wanted to go.
