No other undergraduate business program provides you with the opportunity to explore as many different career paths as the Ivey HBA.

Unlike traditional business schools that expect you to choose a specialization early on, the 2+2 program structure of the Ivey HBA offers you the freedom to explore your academic interests before choosing your career options. In your first two years, you can study in any faculty or program. This opportunity to gain new life experiences ensures that you and your HBA classmates bring diverse and more seasoned perspectives to your business education.

Your first year in the Ivey HBA Program (HBA 1) is typically your third year of university. You work with the same classmates, in the same classroom, with a dedicated faculty team. You cover the essentials of what every good manager needs to know and be able to do. Career management is also built into the curriculum to help you define your career goals and develop job search strategies to get you there.

In your second year at Ivey (HBA 2) you build strength from the foundational business knowledge and skills developed during your first year. A wide range of elective courses in HBA 2 allows you to design a personalized program of study to round out your business management education and complement your career objectives.

Ivey is one of a select few undergraduate business programs committed to the case-method of learning. You won’t just listen to lectures and take notes. You will experience more than 400 real-world business cases during your time at Ivey.

Ivey is known for its case method approach, which means you’ll get less theory and more presenting and dissecting real business scenarios here. This is valuable because it will expose you to real issues and train you to make decisions, just like you will in the business world. This is extended in case competitions held by Ivey with other schools. For soft skills, this is a great way to learn.

The case-based classes were exciting, but they depend on the quality of students as much or more than the professor. Some students don't have enough experience or reading behind them to contribute, so some classes dragged on.

The degree is also one of the most expensive in Canada. It was worth it for me, but people should have a clear idea of why they’re applying and what they want to get out of it. You don’t want to shell out $60k+ only to learn finance or consulting aren’t for you, or that a cheaper program could have helped you get where you wanted to go.
