The DZ Driver Training Program at Ontario Truck Driving School (OTDS) prepares students with the knowledge and practical skills required to operate straight trucks safely and professionally. This insurance-accredited program combines comprehensive classroom instruction with hands-on training, covering essential topics such as air brakes, defensive driving, pre-trip inspections, hours of service regulations, and both city and highway driving. Students also complete practical air brake training to ensure confidence and compliance on the road.
With 40 hours of classroom and lab instruction, 10 hours of yard training, and 22 hours of practical driving experience, the program delivers a well-rounded learning experience. Upon successful completion and passing the road test, graduates may be considered by some employers in lieu of prior work experience. The DZ program equips students with industry-recognized credentials and the real-world driving skills needed to begin a professional career in commercial transportation.
