Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Information Systems Security

The Master of Applied Science in Information Systems Security prepares students to design, implement, and manage the security of real-world information systems. Through a combination of applied research and rigorous academic coursework, the program exposes students to both foundational theories and current industry practices in information security. Financial support may be available through a thesis advisor, and a Co-op option provides opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience in professional settings.
The curriculum offers a comprehensive range of courses covering topics such as cryptography, network and operating systems security, malware defense, secure programming, and cloud computing security, alongside specialized areas like blockchain technology, Internet of Things security, and cybercrime investigations. Advanced topics including artificial intelligence, digital twin technology, and cyber-physical systems further enhance students’ expertise, culminating in a substantial research thesis that reflects their ability to address complex security challenges in modern information systems.
