The Social Service Worker program prepares students to support individuals, families, and communities by addressing social injustices and improving quality of life through direct services and advocacy. Graduates work across diverse settings alongside professionals such as social workers, addiction counsellors, teachers, and healthcare providers.
This four-semester diploma combines theory with hands-on experience. The first three semesters feature classroom-based learning with applied activities like mock interviews, group facilitation, event planning, and social justice research. The final semester includes a full-time field placement, offering real-world practice in a community agency. Upon graduation, students meet the educational requirements to work as Social Service Workers in Ontario and are eligible to register with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
