DZ Ministry-Approved Program

The DZ Ministry-Approved Program prepares individuals whose career path is geared towards operating DZ trucks. Many industrial establishments, municipalities and volunteer fire departments require Class DZ License as a minimum standard. The graduate will know the laws and regulations governing the trucking industries and the role and responsibilities of the truck driver. The practical component of the course will prepare an individual to pass the Ministry of Transportation Road Test and the Air Brake Endorsement (Z).

Included with the program is eight hours of automatic transmission training, six hours of manual transmission training, vehicle and booking for two road test attempts, and simulator training.

Upon completion, graduates will receive seven Industry Certifications: Air Brake Endorsement, Air Brake Adjustment. Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Hours of Service, Border Crossing, Defensive Driving Course, and a Class D Diploma.

Admission Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Hold a valid Ontario G Class license.
• Pass a medical exam approved by the Ministry of Transportation.

What You’ll Learn

• Understand driver and shipper responsibilities, including safe loading practices.
• Learn to secure loads properly and follow loading/unloading precautions.
• Use the Dangerous Goods handbook and follow weight and size regulations.
• Complete daily logbooks accurately and consistently.
• Perform thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Practice technical driving maneuvers in varied traffic, space, and weather conditions.
