The College of the Rockies’ Special Event Planning program offers a flexible and engaging online learning experience for those looking to start or advance a career in the fast-paced world of event planning. Designed for individuals with strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and attention to detail, this non-credit program leads to a Certificate of Achievement in Special Event Planning upon successful completion. Students work through four key modules—Best Practices in Special Event Management, Event Coordination, Event Marketing, and Risk Management and Evaluation—gaining practical, hands-on experience through mock scenarios and real-world assignments.
This program equips students with the foundational knowledge and skills required to plan and execute a variety of events, from weddings and conferences to community festivals and corporate gatherings. Graduates are well-positioned for roles in tourism associations, event and convention centres, government agencies, and private planning companies, or may choose to start their own event planning business. With a focus on applied learning and industry-relevant practices, the program provides a solid entry point into a wide range of event planning careers.
