The Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) program, offered by the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC), provides students with a nationally recognized designation that demonstrates a high level of expertise and professionalism in the insurance industry.

The program consists of four courses that cover essential industry knowledge. Completing the CAIB program signifies a strong foundation in insurance principles, allowing individuals to advance their careers while meeting licensing requirements.

In partnership with Ensure Training and Education, IBAC offers multiple learning options to accommodate different schedules and preferences.

Admission Requirements

  • High school education is recommended, with equivalent English or French language and math skills.
  • Individuals can register for any of the four CAIB courses in any sequence, though it is recommended to begin with CAIB 1 and progress sequentially.

What You’ll Learn

  • In CAIB 1, students will learn general insurance principles, assess personal property and auto insurance, evaluate travel insurance, and apply ethical practices.
  • In CAIB 2, students will analyze business risks and recommend coverage for commercial property, crime, and business interruption insurance.
  • In CAIB 3, students will identify legal liability exposures and apply commercial liability, specialty insurance, surety bonds, and risk management.
  • In CAIB 4, students will learn to manage brokerages, build insurer relationships, develop sales strategies, and enhance customer service.
