Mohawk College’s Library and Information Technician program prepares students for careers in today’s evolving library and information environments. Offered fully online with both full-time and part-time options, the program combines theoretical learning with hands-on skills in acquiring, organizing, retrieving, and sharing information in print and digital formats. Students benefit from instruction by experienced librarians and have the flexibility to complete the program in 1.5 to 4 years, depending on their pace.
Recognized as a leading online library education program in Canada, the curriculum includes core and specialized courses in areas such as circulation, interlibrary loan, Indigenous perspectives, and emerging technologies. Students also complete two in-person field placements and choose four Library Option courses to tailor their learning to areas like archives, records management, school libraries, and more. No prior experience is required, making this program an accessible and practical path to a career in the library and information field.

This is my second time attending this college, when I attended years ago it was a very different experience. The school held many events, frosh week was always a blast, the campus is massive, free gym membership on campus, and they have great selection of food, downside was parking was usually a nightmare. This year is a bit different, with classes online its a bit hectic, confusing and I knew it would be. In my course the professors are very supportive, the layout is making a bit more sense each day, the it department have been fantastic. One thing I will say is that it can be a bit difficult to get some answers from certain departments, but my course professors are doing a great job so far!
