As a Business Management student, you’ll acquire an intensive grounding in the fundamentals of business before choosing one of our seven innovative majors at the end of your first year. This active, collaborative approach puts you in the boardroom, problem-solving, presenting and tackling real-world business cases from the very beginning of your university career.

The Business Management program provides students with a specialization in their chosen vocation, a practical and comprehensive knowledge of all basic functions of business, an awareness of social, political, and economic issues facing contemporary society, a questioning attitude to encourage and assist change, an ability to employ analytical skills for decision-making, and a desire to continue to learn and develop.

The first two semesters are common to all students. The curriculum provides students with a general overview of business in society, introduces them to all the basic business functions, and develops their awareness of social, human and economic issues through the introduction of the liberal studies.

In third semester students enter their major in one of: Economics and Management Science, Entrepreneurship, Global Management, Human Resources Management, Law and Business, Marketing Management or Real Estate Management. In addition, students continue studies in general business courses and the liberal studies area to broaden their perspective. The major started in the third semester is continued throughout the program.

Experience has shown that graduates are well-equipped to offer valuable services to the business community. Many graduates will go into the business world and will find complete satisfaction in their progress to greater responsibilities. The students are not simply learning to react to business pressures. They are prepared to operate pro-actively. Students work in the classroom and on real-life projects, learning how the process of solving problems works.

You're right in the middle of the city of Toronto and will get access to all of the major companies and events. As a former polytechnic, Ryerson has roots and is still focused on real world skills and job preparation. The university's reputation has also grow A LOT in the past 10 years and many students in my class went on to work at reputable companies. They also did interesting work, not everyone went into management consulting or finance. At least 8 graduates I know have gone on to start their own businesses. Profs strike a great balance between theory and practice and all have decades' of corporate experience to speak from. The elective options are also wide and varied.

tldr: An MBA program integrated into the heart of Toronto with a lot of networking opportunities. Hands-on curriculum and experience that will set you up for interesting work a whatever field you choose.
