Health Information Management

The Health Information Management (HIM) program at triOS College prepares students to accurately assess, code, and manage patient record data using industry-standard health information systems. Through a combination of medical terminology, diagnoses, interventions, and Canadian coding and abstracting standards, students develop the expertise needed to ensure precise, consistent, and timely health information collection. The program also strengthens computer skills, data interpretation abilities, and knowledge of electronic health records (EHRs), reflecting the growing importance of HIM professionals in today’s healthcare landscape.

Offered online with live, instructor-led sessions, the program balances flexibility with interactive learning and support. Students engage in courses covering statistics, coding and classification, database management, and Microsoft applications, while also learning career management and professional strategies. Accredited by the Canadian College of Health Information Management, graduates leave ready to enter the workforce with the skills and credentials needed to excel in this essential healthcare field.

An 8-week internship option provides hands-on experience in real-world settings, connecting students with potential employers and practical challenges.

Admission Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
• English language proficiency.
