This introductory certificate covers the basic principles of accounting. You’ll learn how to measure and report financial transactions and study business applications for accounting theory. You’ll emerge with a broad overview of economic theories – both micro and macro – and know how to apply them to current issues. You’ll be introduced to the Canadian legal landscape, as it applies to the administration of business. You’ll expand your working knowledge and professional competencies and better prepare yourself for a career in public accounting, business, finance, government and the not-for-profit sector.

This is a very introduvtory level course. Nothing is covered in depth. 90% of interview tedt question topics arent even touched or mentioned in the course. Would not recommend.

Do I have to be a University of Toronto student or alumnus to apply for courses at the School of Continuing Studies?
No. All adults are welcome to apply for courses at the School regardless of prior academic background.

Can I apply the courses I take at the School of Continuing Studies for credit towards a degree program at the University of Toronto?
No. Courses taken at the School of Continuing Studies do not carry University of Toronto degree credit.

Will I gain admission to the University of Toronto if I take courses at the School of Continuing Studies?
No. Acceptance into the University of Toronto cannot be attained by completing courses at the School of Continuing Studies. You must apply for admission to degree programs, either through the Office of Admissions and Awards or through the School of Graduate Studies.

Do I have to register in a certificate before taking courses?
You do not have to register in a certificate before enrolling in courses that are requirements in the certificate program. When you have satisfied all certificate requirements in the prescribed time limit, you simply fill out the Certificate Request Form, send it to the School by email, fax or mail, and then wait for the certificate to be mailed to your preferred address. Although it is not necessary to register in a certificate before enrolling in courses, we do recommend that you notify us of your intention to pursue a certificate when you register for your first course. We will be able to track your progress and notify you of any updates or changes to the program.

Will the courses I take at the School of Continuing Studies affect my GPA at the University of Toronto?
All courses taken through the School of Continuing Studies are non-degree, non-credit. Final grades achieved for the School’s courses will not affect your GPA for degree studies at the University of Toronto.

Can I get a student visa if I study at the School of Continuing Studies?
Our full-time English as a Second Language Program is the only course or program offered by the School that may entitle you to qualify for a student visa. Check with the nearest Canadian visa office to make sure you have enough time to get the proper documents, if required. View the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website for more information.
