Massage Therapy

The Diploma in Massage Therapy prepares graduates to become independent, successful, and professional health care providers in the area of massage therapy.

The program includes advanced theoretical knowledge and the practical application of the skills necessary to provide safe, effective, and ethical massage therapy that meets entry to practice requirements of the College of Massage Therapists of BC.  Students learn to apply principles of physical, health, and social sciences as they relate to massage therapy in the classroom, simulated environments, and through clinical placements in the community.

Graduates who attain a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) designation are qualified to seek employment opportunities in a variety of settings such as private practices, massage therapy clinics, Chiropractic, Athletic Therapy and Physiotherapy multi-disciplinary clinics, elite athletic teams, wellness centers, and spa resorts.

What You’ll Learn

• Synthesize and apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology into assessment and treatment practices.
• Apply knowledge of clinical conditions and pathophysiology to patient assessments.
• Critically evaluate patient case histories, conditions, and impairments to inform a treatment plan.
• Develop and apply safe and effective patient centered treatment plans that address common clinical conditions.
• Interpret clinical manifestations of specialized conditions and impairments to safely and effectively treat patients.
• Demonstrate accountable and ethical professional and business practices to all aspects of the role of the massage therapist.
