Paramedics (already accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care – PSMSU/AEMCA) who obtain their post-graduation certificate can administer a greater variety of medications and have access to a wider range of medical procedures delegates, such as endotracheal intubation, transcutaneous pacing, cardioversion, and needle thoracotomy.

The program aims to develop knowledge and skills in the assessment of patients and the provision of advanced pre-hospital care to patients and those who have experienced trauma. It allows you to acquire and apply advanced treatment techniques. The student will be led to deepen his knowledge in the fields of respiratory and cardiac emergencies, paediatrics, traumatology and pharmacology. They will exercise their critical thinking and leadership skills.

This program contains mandatory rotations that require providing care to a wide variety of clients. The student may be assigned to an internship environment depending on the places available across Ontario.

Although the training is offered in French, bilingual capacity (French and English) is an asset due to certain scientific texts used in the classroom. In addition, a large number of practical internships are available in an English-speaking environment.

What You’ll Learn

  • Demonstrate, in a critical situation, the ability to quickly and adequately triage patients with medical or traumatic emergencies, to quickly carry out their clinical assessment and to effectively ensure their transport to the appropriate hospital center.
  • Manage patients in crisis with emotional difficulties or mental health issues.
  • Start intravenous therapy using the peripheral or jugular veins.
  • Administer intravenous fluids and calculate the required flow rate based on the patient’s condition.
  • Collect blood samples.
  • Administer appropriate medications in an emergency situation, including drawing medication in ampoules and using disposable prepackaged syringes and administering them using the appropriate method (oral, sublingual, topical, intranasal, rectal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, intraosseous, endotracheal or by inhalation).

There's literally openly racist professor that have been around for years in this college, and even with all the complaints that students file against them, the school doesn't do anything to change it, it's really a shame that no one is doing anything ...

There's literally openly racist professor that have been around for years in this college, and even with all the complaints that students file against them, the school doesn't do anything to change it, it's really a shame that no one is doing anything to change the inequal treatment minority students are experiencing everyday !

I had an excellent experience at La Cité during my two study programs. There are several services offered to help students during their studies. It is more than an educational institution, it is also a place to grow and create memories.
