Humber’s Bachelor of Film and Media Production degree program combines theory and practice with the goal of preparing students for a rewarding career in media. Students will learn a variety of storytelling techniques and how to combine them into compelling visual narratives. The program is taught by professors highly experienced in the film industry, and benefit from their insights and experiences.

This rigorous program covers a broad range of practical and academic topics such as writing, producing, directing, picture and sound editing, cinematography, videography, sound, and post-production. Students will study both fiction and non-fiction filmmaking, will gain vital research and management abilities, and attend seminars hosted by industry professionals, giving them access to valuable insights and contacts. A film and media theory component is combined with courses such as entertainment law and media entrepreneurship, preparing graduates for their careers in film. A capstone project in the final year will allow students to apply their skills and demonstrate their creative vision.

  • Explore storytelling techniques and media cultures across film, writing, and digital platforms.
  • Learn screenwriting fundamentals and advanced techniques for both short and feature-length scripts.
  • Gain hands-on experience in cinematography, sound, and picture editing with practical and theoretical approaches.
  • Study the history, ideologies, and forms of global and Canadian cinema.

I recently took the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence for Digital Marketers and Communications program at Humber Polytechnic and found it really practical and easy to follow. It breaks down AI concepts in a way that actually makes sense for marketers, without getting overly technical.

I liked that we focused on real-world tools and use cases — from content creation to analytics — and how to apply AI strategically rather than just chasing trends. It’s a great starting point for anyone in marketing or communications who wants to understand how AI can fit into their day-to-day work.
